The wait, as they say, is over. My new book Who Dares Wins is published by Allen Lane on 3 October. Far from covering the "first half of the 1980s", as I once rashly claimed, it actually focuses on the first three years of the decade, reaching its climax with the Falklands War in 1982.

Excitingly, or depressingly, according to taste, I've already started work on the next book in the sequence. It will cover the next three years or so, hinging on the miners' strike of 1984-5. It's due to be published in 2021, which on previous form means I'll finish it in 2025.
