I present the podcast The Rest is History with my friend and fellow historian, Tom Holland. We started doing it in the autumn of 2020, exploring all kinds of historical subjects - the origins of humanity, the Roman emperors, the French Revolution, the top ten eunuchs in history, the Watergate scandal, even the roots of the Marvel superhero films.

We have been lucky to attract some wonderful guests, from Stephen Fry, Michael Wood and Marc Andreesen to Mary Beard, Sir Ian Kershaw and William Dalrymple. We usually feature questions from listeners, and we have run online World Cups of kings, prime ministers and even ancient gods.

We are consistently ranked in the top 10 podcasts in the UK, with several million downloads a month.

I've also made a podcast series for Audible about the uses and abuses of history, entitled Hijacked Histories. We covered the first Roman emperors, the story of the Levellers, the Lost Cause of the Confederacy, the films of Sergei Eisenstein, the London Blitz and the row between Greece and Macedonia over Alexander the Great.
